Dear Members,
Following the announcement from the Government on Sunday evening and subsequent advice issued by England Golf and The R&A, I am pleased to advise you that Blackwell Golf course will re-open on Wednesday 13th May.
It will of course be necessary to impose certain restrictions and conditions in order to comply with continuing Government advice on engaging in sporting activity and I have copied below a list of protocols which each player must follow in order to allow golf to restart at Blackwell.
It is very important that these protocols are followed by all members and I would be extremely grateful for your co-operation in doing so. All of them will be kept under constant review and as soon as we can safely move to the operation of the golf course and club house in a more normal way, we will of course do so.
Please note that these protocols do not effect the pre-existing arrangements for ladies only golf on Tuesday mornings and men only on Saturdays until 4.00 pm.
Our professionals advise me that they are able to offer a limited buggy and trolley rental service for those of you who have need of it. Pre-booking is essential and use of the buggies will be restricted to one person per buggy.
As a courtesy to our professional, I would be very grateful if you would please only contact him on the tee time booking line at the times noted in the attached document. He is after all entitled to some private time with his family despite the inevitable demand from our membership for tee times.
I hope that very soon, full and unrestricted access to the golf course and the club house will be restored but until then, trust that these protocols will allow you some respite from the restrictions that have been imposed over recent weeks.
Kind regards.
Steve Piercy

Blackwell Golf Club
Conditions for the Recommencement of Golf under Covid-19 Restrictions
• Play is restricted to members and their invited guests only. The appropriate guest fee must be paid to the professional shop.
• In order to manage and control access to the golf course, players are required to pre-book a tee time via our professional, Dan Cummins, on telephone number 07944-921707. This booking line will open at noon tomorrow, 12th May. Dan will be available on this number until 5.00 pm tomorrow and thereafter from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday and 9.00 am to 2.00 pm on Saturday. Tee times can be booked up to 7 days in advance.
• Tee times/starting times will apply to play from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm each day, starting from Wednesday 13th May. There will be one starting time available every 10 minutes. Prior to 9.00 am, golf is prohibited. The course will however remain open after the final tee time at 4.00 pm and members may play thereafter without a tee time, as long as all of the other protocols and conditions listed herein are strictly adhered to.
• Players must arrive at the golf club no more than 15 minutes prior to their allocated tee time and be dressed ready to play golf. Whilst w.c. facilities are available within the club house, changing facilities are closed and therefore, players are permitted to change into their golf shoes in their cars/on the car park. Other than the w.c. facilities, the clubhouse is unavailable to both members and their guests.
• All practice facilities will remain closed other than the practice putting green which will be available for use by players immediately prior to their allocated tee time as soon as it is vacated by those teeing off in the group/tee time ahead.
• Members may play on their own or, with one other person in a two-ball format. Play is permitted in a foursome (two-ball) format as long as all players are from the same household and, the two players not hitting the tee shot, walk forward so as to avoid congestion on the tee.
• Social distancing must be strictly adhered to at all times whilst on the course and, other parts of the club premises (including the car park). Separation of at least 2 metres must be maintained at all times.
• Whilst on the golf course, players must not touch the flags, benches, wooden shelters, course furniture of any kind or, stray golf balls.
• All bunker rakes have been removed from the course. As a courtesy to other golfers, players are asked to smooth bunker surfaces with feet and or club heads after playing from one.
• After completion of play, all players are requested to leave the course and club facility immediately. No social gatherings are permitted around the club house area.
